Nearly one year after its paperback and ebook release, Isaac Thorne’s Road Kills: Short Tales of Dark Horror is now available as an audiobook from Audible.com. Narrated by veteran actors Carol Jacobanis and Robert Thaler, the audio edition brings to life the voices of Thorne’s characters as they embark on their journeys along life’s highway of darkness.
“This project was a long time in the works,” Thorne says. “At first, I had planned to narrate the masculine perspective stories myself and contract out the stories that are written from a feminine perspective. But as I recorded individual stories, I was afraid that my audiobook edition of Road Kills might turn into a SCRM Radio collection instead of a legitimate audiobook edition of this material.”
Thorne hosts Thorne’s Theater of Terror and Classic Cuts on SCRM Radio, where he has previously narrated several stories from the Road Kills collection.
“Because the audiobook is different and separate from my SCRM Radio show, I decided to hire separate professional voice actors for the audiobook edition. I couldn’t be happier with Carol’s and Robert’s performances.”
Jacobanis narrates five of the short tales of dark horror, including all three of the Tiffany stories (“Because Reasons,” “Deal With It,” and “Legit”). Thaler narrates the stories the remainder of the stories that are told from a primarily male perspective, including “Diggum,” the author’s personal favorite tale in this collection.
“They’ve both done an incredible job with this collection,” Thorne says. “I’d work with either of them again.”
