As Halloween wrapped, Isaac Thorne appeared on Richard Sheppard's The Constant Reader Podcast, a podcast about the canon of Stephen King. For his appearance, Thorne chose to discuss the King fantasy novel The Eyes of the Dragon.
"With the possible exception of Cycle of the Werewolf, The Eyes of the Dragon was my first entry into the King universe," Isaac says. "I was always into horror, and I knew that King wrote horror, but I picked up The Eyes of the Dragon because it was the newest King title available. I didn't really know what to expect at first."
Together, Richard and Isaac discuss the good versus evil themes of King's fantasy novel, now it fits into King's overall universe as well as its own story, and how problematic characters are more interesting than perfect ones. In addition, Richard asks Isaac about his own new horror novel, Hell Spring, which is currently available from this site and retailers everywhere.
"I had fun chatting with Richard," Isaac says. "Not only am I a Stephen King Constant Reader, I'm also now a regular listener of The Constant Reader Podcast."

As Halloween approaches, horror author Isaac Thorne has been doing a few appearances and interviews with podcasts and other outlets. Most recently, Isaac appeared on Screen Quest Podcast, a movie podcast that is dedicating its October episodes exclusively to horror movies.
"I chatted with hosts Chris, Mae, and Will about a couple of favorite horror comedies," Isaac says. "One of them was my choice. The other was a listener choice."
Isaac picked Anything For Jackson, a modern horror comedy that he says is as terrifying as any straight-up horror movie. The podcast's audience chose Evil Dead II, the slapstick classic follow-up to the movie that put Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell on the radars of horror fans everywhere.
"It was fun chatting about both flicks," Isaac says. "None of the hosts had seen Anything For Jackson before, so I was happy to have introduced them to that Shudder original. It's a movie I've watched a few times since its initial release on streaming, and I see new things I love about it every time."
For Evil Dead II, Isaac says it was great fun to revisit. "It had been at least a decade since I last watched that movie. There were things I'd forgotten about it, like the ballet dancing headless Deadite, that I remember totally creeping me out as a teen."
